Kaleb a présenté un aperçu des thèmes émergents et connaissances développantes qui décrivent comment les éducateurs peuvent mener, transformer, et continuer à cultiver leur relations aux cultures et communautés Autochtones tout en appuyant l'apprentissage de chaque élève. Elle nous a également introduis au "<a href="http://www.cbc.ca/aboriginal/legends_project.html">Legends Project</a>" de CBC. Ce projet est un recueil d'histoires et légendes traditionnelles autochtones, rassemblées de communautés partout au Canada. Ces histoires et légendes sont enregistrées en anglais et dans la langue autochtone. <br />

Dr. Hare nous a raconté une histoire autochtone du domaine publique intitulée "Coyote's Mismatched Eyes". J'ai adoré l'entendre raconter l'histoire, et j'ai surtout été fascinée par la façon dont elle a terminé le récit. Elle arrêta pour boire de l'eau, et je croyais qu'elle allait continuer, mais elle se retourna et dit: "Voilà mon histoire." J'ai trouvé l'effet très intéressant, suscitant la réflexion. books and papers on Aboriginal issues in Canada, and was an active participant
in the 2012 Idle No More protest movement. As an author, Leanne has tackled a
striking variety of genres, from traditional storytelling to critical analysis,
to poetry and spoken word. Her first book, <i>Dancing on Our Turtle's Back,</i>
was inspired by stories she was told by Nishnaabeg elders<span style="mso-bidi-font-style: italic;">. </span>In 2012, Leanne won <i>Briarpatch
Magazine</i>’s Writing From the Margins prize for short fiction. In 2014, she was
named the first RBC Charles Taylor Emerging writer. <span style="mso-bidi-font-style: italic;">She was also awarded the Most Thought-Provoking Paper award by the

(directeur à Eastview Elementary) sont venus nous parler au sujet de l'éducation Autochtone, j'ai bien
aimé l'idée qu'ils ont lancée de créer une muraille de vérités avec des
notes adhésives dans la salle de classe. Grace à leur présentation, j'ai
appris que les Premières nations sont le seul groupe culturel au Canada
qui est assujetti à une liste nominale. J'ai aussi appris que l'école
résidentielle qui était la plus proche d'où j'habite était <span class="spellver" title="Sot, Sut, Sût, Dt, Set, Est, Pst, Ct, Et, Sa, Se, Si, Su, Ut, S'y">St.</span> <span class="spellver" title="Paul, Pals, Peuls, Pouls, Pulls, Palus, Pal, Poils, Bals, Peul, Pull, Bols, Pools, Bauds">Paul's</span> <span class="spellver" title="Indien, Indican, Indiens, Indicans, Indiça, Indiças, INRIA, D'indien, L'indien">Indian</span> <span class="spellver" title="Résidentiel, Résidentiels, Présidentiel">Residential</span> <span class="spellver" title="Schéol, Schéols">School,</span> qui a déjà existé à <span class="spellver" title="Mort, Morts, Nord, Bort, Mord, Morte, Borts, Mords, Dort, Fort, Port, Sort, Tort, Nordi, Forts, Ports, Sorts, Torts, N'ont">North</span> Vancouver. Cette école a été fermée en 1958.<br />

Cette semaine j'ai également assisté à la présentation de Harlan Pruden organisée par TEFA. Harlan est un érudit et activiste de Première nation crie. Il a partagé ses connaissances et expériences en tant que personne bispirituelle. J'ai appris énormément pendant sa présentation. <br />

Nous devrions tous montrer reconnaissance que nous sommes sur des terres Autochtones non cédées, mais seulement les peuples Autochtones peuvent nous accueillir. J'ai également appris qu'approximativement 95% des terres en Colombie-Britannique sont des terres Autochtones non cédées. J'ai trouvé intéressant de comparer les perspectives d'Osiem Larry Grant et Dr. Cynthia Nichol par rapport à l'apprentissage sur le terrain. Finalement, j'ai trouvé fascinant d'entendre parler Osiem Larry Grant de la signifiance et de la manière juste de prononcer le nom Musqueam. <br />

J'ai été déçue (mais pas vraiment surprise) de voir qu'il en avaient très peu qui ont fait ceci d'une façon authentique. À cause de cette activité, je comprends encore plus l'importance de vérifier auprès de personnes autochtones l'effet qu'une leçon que j'aurai créé pourrait avoir, avant de l'utiliser dans ma salle de classe. <br /><br />J'ai aussi beaucoup aimé étudier les principes d'apprentissages des peuples autochtones en plus de détail. Celui qui me semble le plus difficile à aborder est le premier: l'apprentissage soutient ultimement le bien-être de l'individu, de la famille, de la communauté, de la terre, des esprits, et de les ancêtres. Il me semble que ce principe est très spécifique aux peuples autochtones, et que ça serait assez difficile d'expliquer à des familles à l'extérieur de ces peuples l'importance d'étudier ces principes. Les images et l'ambiance de cette clip m'ont vraiment frappé. Dedans, on peux voir des enfants heureux qui jouent au hockey, et on explique que beaucoup de jeunes autochtones dans les écoles résidentielles venaient de familles abusives ou qu'ils étaient des orphelins, ce qui était peut-être parfois le cas, mais pas aussi souvent qu'on penserais en regardant la clip. En regardant ce vidéo, j'ai du me demander ce que les médias nous montrent ces jours-ci qui n'est pas entièrement ou du tout vrai. J'ai été impressionnée par la qualité du livre que j'ai pu lire personnellement, "Secret of the Dance" par Andrea Spalding et Alfred Scow. Je sais maintenant que FNESC a publié un document cette année qui liste des ressources écrites pour un public étudiant. Celui-ci me sera sûrement très utile lors de ma carrière en enseignement. J'ai aussi appris qu'il y a quatre domaines de savoirs autochtones: la terre, la spiritualité, les langues, cultures, et traditions, et les personnes.<br />

Dans le texte écrit par Jan Hare et Sara Florence Davidson que nous avions à lire pour cette semaine, des personnes autochtones ont parlé du fait qu'ils ne ressentent pas les mêmes sentiments quand ils s'expriment en anglais. Je me suis identifié à ces paroles; je ressent des sentiments semblables quand je parle en anglais. Je ne peux pas m'exprimer de la même façon en anglais qu'en français, et je ne me sens pas pareil quand je le fait. Ça fait même pas trois semaines que j'habite à Vancouver et je remarque déjà beaucoup de preuves de présence autochtone autour de la ville. Il y a quelques fins de semaine je suis allée marcher à Stanley Park et j'ai vu les<b> </b>totems à Brockton Point. Je ne m'attendais pas à les voir, et j'ai été frappée par leur pouvoir tranquille. À date, je trouvent que les totems sont le type de preuve de présence autochtone le plus impressionnant dans cette région (personnellement). Leur présence est immanquable. <br />

En faisant un peu de recherche, j'ai aussi appris que le nom Kitsilano (le quartier dans lequel j'habite) est d'origine autochtone. J'ai surtout été provoquée par les images de costumes portés par les mannequins de Victoria Secret et les costumes d'Halloween. Ces images m'ont aidé à comprendre jusqu'à quel point nous avons réduit les vêtements traditionnels des peuples autochtones à une tenue de tendance. J'ai apprécié que Dr. Hare nous ai envoyé un courriel par la suite pour nous rappeler des ressources qui nous sont disponibles pour pratiquer de l’auto-thérapie. Je trouve qu'elle est très consciencieuse et attentionnée. Je suis reconnaissante de pouvoir parler avec aisance dans sa classe. Elle a recommandé un livre par Marie Battiste intitulé "Decolonizing Education: Nourishing the Learning Spirit", et elle a aussi mentionné le livre "Decolonizing Methodologies" par Linda Tuhiwai Smith. J'ai apprécié que vu que l’étude des sujets autochtones est quelque chose de nouveau pour beaucoup d'entre nous, Dr. Hare nous ai donné des matériaux en surplus au cas où que nous voulions approfondir notre compréhension. <br />
